BOTOXBOTOX is currently the world’s most popular non-surgical cosmetic medical treatment. The most common use for BOTOX is for treating lines and wrinkles around the eyes.
Most of the lines and wrinkles that form around the eyes are the result of facial expressions. Each time we smile, frown, or raise our brows in surprise, our facial muscles contract and crease the skin. When these facial expressions are repeated over and over again for years and years, lines and wrinkles eventually form, making people look older, angry, and/or tired.
BOTOX is essentially an injectable muscle relaxant. When injected into the muscles that cause wrinkles, it relaxes the muscles and reduces and often eliminates the wrinkles. The most common BOTOX treatments are crow’s feet, frown lines between the eyes, and horizontal forehead lines.
BOTOX can also be used to achieve a beautiful brow lift and has many other uses on the lower face and neck. The results of BOTOX look natural and typically last 3-4 months, although many people find that it lasts longer with repeated use over time.
Prescription Dysport is an injection used to temporarily improve the look of your moderate to severe frown lines without changing the look of your whole face. The untreated facial muscles still work normally, allowing you to freely show facial expressions, such as smiling, in untreated areas.
Dysport is a formulation that has been shown to deliver temporary improvement in moderate to severe frown lines, even with repeat treatments. So, the effect of repeat treatment with Dysport may be comparable to your first use.
With just 1 injection into each of 5 points between and over the eyebrows, Dysport blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity and temporarily preventing contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines. You should not be treated with Dysport more frequently than every 90 days.
Treatment with prescription Dysport can temporarily improve the look of your moderate to severe frown lines. Treatment generally takes just 10 to 20 minutes
Fractional LaserFractional laser treatments are the newest form of laser skin rejuvenation. Utilizing advanced laser technology, it is the treatment of choice for fine lines and improved skin texture and appearance.
Fractional skin resurfacing has revolutionized skin care and is used to treat a number of skin conditions including:
- acne scares
- "crepey" skin texture
- fine lines and wrinkles
- loss of skin elasticity
- skin discolorations
- stretch marks
- sun damaged skin
- surgical or traumatic scars
Unlike earlier generations of skin resurfacing lasers, fractional resurfacing offers results with minimal discomfort and fast recuperation. Benefits include:
- Minimal downtime
- Treats multiple skin conditions
- Minimal to no pain during procedure
- Minimized redness or swelling
The areas usually treated are the face, neck, hands, arms, back, legs and other areas exposed to the sun.
To ablate means to “surgically remove”. The Fraxel and Starlux1540 are non ablative lasers which mean that when the laser beam strikes the skin the skin is not removed immediately, rather the laser beam heats the skin to cause inflammation and new collagen production. The benefits of the Starlux 1540 non ablative laser skin treatments are dramatically reduced recovery time, but the results in terms of wrinkle removal and skin tightening are less dramatic than with ablative lasers.
However, the new Starlux 1540 fractional lasers are able to penetrate much deeper than traditional non fractional ablative lasers and we are discovering that deeper penetration of the laser produces a much more dramatic stimulation of new collagen formation which translates into a plumping effect on the skin. This is particularly useful in treating depressed acne scars.
